Today I read four news.
The first news is called ' Preston Mail Centre'. The story is about Lancashire posties ready for more strikes.
I choose the story is because the strike can warn the government to treat workers much more equally.

The second story is 'Football museum's D-Day Delayed'. It is talked about football museum will be moved to Manchester.
I choose the story is because I like football and sometimes I will concern about the information of football and football museum.

The third story is 'Harris Museum & Art Gallery'. It is about showcase creative work. And I choose it just because I like art and like to visiting the art gallery.

First post
Hello, everyone. I am Amanda, I’m a second year student of Uclan studying Media Management. This is my first blog and it will accompany with my study and make my university life more exciting.
I used to think the blog is too trouble to use it. But through the first year studying in Shang Hai, I understand that blog is a very good platform to communication with others. I can write everything what I want to showing and thinking. Then my friends will know what I happened and I will get more informations about my friends. It is very simple and convenient.
Through my understanding, blog is that publish individual articles on the web. And blog is a new way of life, new ways of working, new learning methods and means of communication. With the rapid development of blogging, blog became a communication tool within family, company and so on.
It is my first time to use blog, so I research many free blog services like “Blogger”, “Word Press”, “TypePad”, “Windows Live Spaces” and “My Space”. Generally speaking, it is easy to use these free blog service. At first, create a new account and set the name which we like. Second, we can write our own articles and share interesting things, we also can put some music. At the last, we can find other friends and communicate with them.
I choose “Blogger” as my part of work as my part of my studies at Uclan, because it is free and easy to configure. In the blogger, there are many interesting things, I can put my photos in the blog and share it. I also can change the template of my blog.

Preston City Council, Town Hall

Preston City Council is based in the Town Hall.

Logo: depicts the Lamb of St Wifred Preston's parton saint-with its flag and two swooshes, in the corporate blues, surrounding the wors 'Preston City Council'. The top swoosh symbolises the city's nearby countryside, hills and fells, while the bottom swoosh represents the River Ribble.

The mounted police
The day is 10th Oct. I went to shopping with my friends in Manchester. And saw a spectacular sight that called 'The mounted police'.
Because the mounted police function is to stop the riots and control crowd. And the mounted police is very tall, they were able to detect the potential confrontation and chaos in the population. They can immediately to control the crowd. It is said that, deal with riot crowd, a mounted police top of more than 10 general policemen.

I think this should be the protection of horses' feet. When horses kneel to the ground, it can reduce pain and will not let feet injuried too much.

This is 'the mounted police'. He was dressed in police uniforms and sat on horseback, it lets me feel that all the mounted police are very awe-inspiring.

The height of the horse is from horse's shoulder.
Europe and the United States is said that ' hand width'（it is about four inches). Britain's horses are picked about 17-18'hand width'. It is also means that the height of the horse is 1.8 meters.
The benefit of the high height is let the mounted police much easier to draw people's attention, then can carry out the patrols. And it can be able to make offenders feel frightened.
